A Complete School
Bishop Johnson School & College, popularly known as BJC which is managed by Diocese of Lucknow, Church of North India, is a recognized institution under the affiliation of Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi.
It is running the classes from Nursery to XII. In ICSE classes, it has two streams, Science and Commerce and in ISC level, it has three streams Science (Math group & Bio. Group), Commerce, and Arts with a number of optional subjects so that the students get sufficient choices to offer their favorite subjects. It has two large separate buildings one for junior section and the other for senior sections, high-tech offices including Principal’s office. Administrative section and Accounts section, Fee office, a large conference hall, NCC office, sports block and a large playground. The high-tech centrally air conditioned auditorium of the college with an accommodation capacity of almost 1200 persons and the swimming pool are the additional features of interest and attraction that enhance the glamour of the beautiful Institution.
CAMPUS ACTIVITIES
Administration (Academic):
The academic activities has been running smoothly and bluntlessly under the able administrative streak of the dynamic Principal of the College Dr. V. N. Singh. Academic activity like Class room teaching is comfortable as it is provided in 50 spacious class rooms well equipped with moulded furniture; well-lit and airy. Nursery classes are conducted in a play-way method. Both junior and senior classes have bulletin boards where relevant subject matters, matters related to G.K. & Current affairs etc. are pinned up periodically. Various charts, educational articles on the bulletin boards of the class rooms show the creativity of the children and this provides a better environment of learning. Moral Science teaching helps the students to learn ethics and values. It influences critical thinking and helps students to differentiate the right from wrong so that they become worthy citizens in their future.
Not only the class rooms are monitored directly by the Principal and the activities, teaching etc. are observed by him with closed circuit cameras, but also he can be communicated by the class sitting at his office. The examination system in junior and senior sections comprises of 2 tests and 2 term exams. ICSE & ISC results remain every year above 95%. Besides a number of children come with overall distinction which shows the approximate perfection and almost null defect in the progress of this institution.
Staff (Academic):
A cluster of almost 130 dedicated high professionals, proficient in their subjects, experienced in teaching and evaluation is the greatest asset of this institution. Caring Teachers at Nursery & K.G. levels and other primary teachers inculcate interest in the small kids by teaching in interesting and technical ways, senior section teachers not only provide formal teaching but also provide moral education and help them in other extra-curricular activities that are the integral part of the institution.
Staff (Office):
A well-equipped air-conditioned office comprising different sections attached to Principal’s office along with an enquiry office helps substantially the Principal-the administrative head to run the institution in a well-organized manner. The tireless job of staff with diligence; proper maintenance of scholar records and ideal balancing of accounts work showcases the efficacy of the office.
Library:
A huge well equipped Central library having a seating capacity of 100 students (with a separate section for teachers) and another for junior section provide innumerable number of useful books, journals, magazines and newspapers to students which help in enhancing their knowledge. This is the center of attraction for the children as they get the pleasure of reading that enriches mind and broadens their outlook. Book bank of the library lends the children books for a limited duration so as to make their detailed study or pleasure-reading at home.
Science Laboratories:
The three laboratories: Physics, Chemistry and Biology are well-equipped for the students to conduct practicals as per the criteria and requirements of the Council for ISC Examinations. Besides these have a lot of manuals, models, charts for demonstration purpose which act as great aids and tools while teaching theory. The laboratories are the places where the young scientists of the College not only do the practicals-the curriculum job, but also show their innovative skills by doing other experiments beyond the school curriculum, and making different useful models.
Computer Centers:
There are two States-of-the-art i.e. Computer centers in the campus, one for junior section and the other for the senior section. About 30 multimedia computers with internet facilities are installed in these centers. These are the places where small and young students not only do their academic work but also they browse and explore new things beyond their curriculum, make software programming, launch websites and many more.
Extra-curricular activities:
As the College ensures the overall development of students, they are motivated and prepared to participate in various group activities, apart from their classroom studies. It conducts, every year a number of festivals: Hindi Utsav, English Fest, Science Festival, Art & Craft Festival and others. The activities include debate, elocution, news reading, poem writing, extempore, dumb charades, quiz, science talent search test, science fiction writing, essay writing, science exhibition, collage, crafts, art, skits, music, dance, rangoli, etc. Besides it participates in inter-institutional competitions, in Olympiads and other competitions of State and National levels which provide good experience and exposure to the participants. It obviously enhances the general awareness and personality development.
Sports:
Games and sports are an integral and indispensable part of education, because mental work causes fatigue which can be removed through sports. College has a huge play ground where various tournaments in different games, track events, gymnastics, yoga practice, net practice in cricket are conducted. The stadium around the field has a seating capacity of almost 2000 people which helps us in inviting parents during annual sports. It has two basketball courts and two badminton courts. Every year, a number of students excel in different games like cricket, basketball, badminton etc. Their outstanding performance in district, state and national levels add flying colours to this institution. Evening physical training provides vigor and energy to the children. Yoga practice at school enhances the power of concentration and improves the health and mind of both staff and students.
N.C.C.:
Introduction of NCC with school curriculum provides the young students a proper environment for teamwork. Each one of the cadets has an infinite source of energy. Cadets deliver it for the extension of discipline, courage, confidence, conduct, co-operation, self-sufficiency and efficiency.
Co-Education:
It has higher aspiration and greater hopes in imparting co-education, because in modern age it is necessary to work together, hand in hand, without discriminating opposite sex, as co-education trains both the sex to work together, live together and compete with each other and bring quality and peace. Thus it helps to realize the equality and capability of both sex. These plus points help the running of institution in a more smooth and disciplined manner.
Parent-Teacher Meeting:
At least 4 times in every term of an academic year, a parent-teacher meeting is conducted. It helps the teachers and parents to interact with each other. The staff mentors discuss the academic and emotional problems with the parents and students freely and suggest easy and sustained solutions. It brings not only stability and positive motivation in students towards constructive work but also a great relaxation and assurance to parents.
